I hope they have cabernet. Anyway, another gunman, this time in Colorado, killed a bunch of people at a missionary training center because he couldn't spend the night. Oh and about seventy miles away, another shooting occurred.

How many days ago was the shooting in Nebraska?

Well it's kind of a fried subject. So many shootings and other crappy things going on in this world... man. Why do I even bother reading the news?

I really don't know what to say right now. I'm almost done my applications, which is nice. It's cold outside. I'm shopping for furnishings for my room. My life is nice. It's just everything else that is falling apart.

Anyways. I'm mot really in the mood to chat, as I said before.

Cheers.

not that I think this newly turned-over leaf came about via a lot of pressure on Bush....

but I think this newly turned-over lead came about via a lot of pressure on Bush.
From Yahoo! News as per usual:

WASHINGTON - President Bush's personal letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, raising the possibility of normalized relations if he fully discloses his nuclear programs by year's end, is a turnabout for a president who has labeled the communist regime part of an "axis of evil."

From "Axis of Evil" (which sounds like an especially lame strategy game) to "normalized relations," whatever that means. Huh. What is it with presidents and their obsession with modifying the word "Normal?" I thought it was a)subjective and b)kind of wishy-washy. But I suppose that's basically the definition of politics, so there you go.

I'd also like to take the time to comment on Jennifer Love Hewitt. Personally, I think she looks irritating. I've never seen her in anything, but she just looks irritating to me. Still:

I actually don't think she looks that bad. I mean, the bikini's too tight, but if she'd worn a properly sized bikini, she'd be fine. She doesn't even really have cellulite--she just doesn't have great legs. I really don't understand what all the controversy is.

Anyhoo, I'm off---trying to retrieve my entire music library from my old comp.

From Yahoo! News:

OMAHA, Neb. - A man opened fire with a rifle at a busy department store Wednesday, killing eight people before taking his own life in an attack that made holiday shoppers run screaming through a mall and barricade themselves in dressing rooms. Five more people were wounded, two critically. Witnesses said the gunman fired down on shoppers from a third-floor balcony of the Von Maur department store.

NEBRASKA HAS DEPARTMENT STORES?!---Wait, nay--NEBRASKA EXISTS?!

What the hell is up with these dudes and shootings? Apparently the dude's suicide note mentioned something about "going out in style." Oh, real original, you moron. I mean seriously. How many people have done the whole shoot-out-at-the-mall thing? Also, I'd like to point out: suicide comes from the latin roots, "sui" (of oneself) and "cidium" (killing)* . That means just ONE person. What a tool.

In other news, (also from Yahoo! News)  WASHINGTON - A new agreement between the Pentagon and the State Department gives the military in Iraq more control over Blackwater Worldwide and other private security contractors.

I really am not going to claim to know anything about the situation in the Middle East, or even what the hell this means. Really, probably no one knows about it, but I'm not even going to pretend.

Still, I feel like anytime the words "Iraq" and "give more control" come together in one sentence, it's probably bad news. Of course, this is not particularly controversial on my part; that being said you would think more people in power would realize we really just need to get the hell out of there, no matter what.

We are an extremely modern culture and going over to "help" an arguably archaic culture is kind of asking for doom. This also is not a particularly controversial statement either. It's also Monday Morning Quarterbacking as it were (hindsight's 20-20 blah blah blah) but I still feel like if this is such a "no duh" sort of statement....WHY ARE WE STILL THERE?!

WHY:The agreement says deadly force is authorized when a private security contractor "reasonably believes that a person has committed a hostile act or demonstrated hostile intent and poses an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm to the personal security contractor."

Well, at any rate, if the American people try to vote on anything, the Supreme Court will just veto it so what's the point in caring?

...More on the Blackwater Worldwide article once I've done some research on it.

Later, dudes
